Changes to the Healthy Incentives Program (HIP)

Healthy Incentives Program (HIP) Benefits

We are happy to share that as of September 1st 2025, the Healthy Incentives Program (HIP) amounts are increasing to levels of $40, $60, and $80 monthly depending on your SNAP household size. The table below shows what this would mean for you and your household:

Household SizeMonthly HIP limit
1-2 people$40
3-5 people$60
6+ people$80

DTA will be reaching out to HIP users who will see an increase in their HIP cap through texts and emails. Updated information and materials reflecting the new incentive levels are available on mass.gov/hip

In addition to the monthly incentive increase for HIP, the following information is new:

  • When you use your HIP incentive, your receipt will now include the monthly amount left for you to use.
  • You will only need to have your EBT card swiped one time to be able to use your HIP incentives, as long as there is some SNAP balance on your card.

DTA’s HIP Director explains all these changes in a convenient HIP explainer video here.

If you still have questions regarding HIP, please email: DTA.HIP@mass.gov.
