Changes to the Healthy Incentives Program (HIP)

Healthy Incentives Program (HIP) Benefits

Starting December 1, 2024, the Healthy Incentives Program (HIP) is changing. For all households, regardless of size, the maximum benefit for HIP will be $20 a month. State government funding for HIP has been significantly decreased for 2025, which resulted in the need to reduce the overall benefits. This ensures that HIP can still operate year-round and benefit as many people as possible. The program will still operate as it always has, so continue using your EBT card at farmers’ markets and other places that accept HIP. Just be aware of the maximum benefit change the next time you shop.

The Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) has created a page of frequently asked questions regarding the HIP changes. For even more information, you can visit the DTA’s main HIP website. If you need more assistance, DTA is here to help. There are multiple ways to reach out to DTA and find the assistance you need, by phone, online, and in person.
