MyPlate Turns 10 Illustration

Happy 10th Birthday MyPlate!

Hard to believe MyPlate is turning 10. We would like to take some time to look back on the past ten years and then look at what we can do to celebrate MyPlate’s birthday.

MyPlate was developed in 2011 when it was adapted from MyPyramid. It was created to make it easier for people to learn how to make healthier choices. It is also a time when the U.S. took a larger interest in helping people eat healthier. MyPlate breaks down the science from the Dietary Guidelines for Americans (https://www.dietaryguidelines.gov/) so everyone can find ways to eat healthily and be physically active. The five sections of MyPlate make it easy to identify what and how much we should try to aim to eat every day.
